Havant Buses: Routes, Bus Station and Live Times
Which bus routes the council lists for Havant, where Havant bus station is and when it is open, and where to check live times, as published in October 2026.
Havant bus station is in Elm Lane, owned by Havant Borough Council and operated by Stagecoach, and the council lists routes 20, 22, 23, 27, 30/31, 37, 39 and 700 as serving Havant. The building is open Monday to Saturday 7am to 6:30pm and Sunday 9am to 3pm.
Which buses serve Havant?
Havant Borough Council says the borough's bus services are operated by First Bus and Stagecoach, linking Havant with Portsmouth, Petersfield and Chichester. The council's bus services page lists the regular services in the borough, as published in October 2026. Routes, timings and fares change, so use the operator's own timetable for the day you travel.
Routes listed with Havant
Eight of the council's listed services name Havant in their route. Route 20 runs Portsmouth, QA Hospital, Crookhorn, Leigh Park and Havant. Route 22 runs Havant, Leigh Park and Warren Park. Route 23 runs Havant, Farlington, Cosham, Portsmouth and Southsea. Route 27 runs Rowlands Castle, Leigh Park, Havant, Denvilles and Emsworth.
Routes 30/31 run Havant and Hayling Island. Route 37 runs Havant, Leigh Park, Crookhorn, Waterlooville, Cowplain, Horndean, Clanfield and Petersfield. Route 39 runs Havant, Leigh Park, Crookhorn, Waterlooville and Wecock Farm. Route 700 runs Portsmouth, Havant, Emsworth and Chichester.
The council's list also includes route 19 (Portsmouth, Copnor, Farlington, Leigh Park), and routes 7, 8 and D1/D2 around Waterlooville, none of which name Havant itself. The council page does not say which operator runs each route or which routes use the bus station, so we do not assign them here. For the estates, see our Leigh Park area page.
Havant bus station
The bus station is in Elm Lane in the town centre. The council says it is owned by Havant Borough Council and operated by Stagecoach. The building is open Monday to Saturday 7am to 6:30pm and Sunday 9am to 3pm, and bus services run from the station up to 24 hours a day. The two-storey building has an enclosed waiting area, toilets, an information point, a refreshment shop and bus departure displays.
Havant railway station is close by at the other end of Market Parade, which is signposted in both directions. See our train station guide for ticket office hours and step-free access.
Buses to Hayling Island
On its Hayling seafront page the council says Stagecoach services 30 and 31 link Havant bus station with Hayling seafront. It says buses run every 15 minutes through the day and hourly in the evenings and on Sundays, and that the UK government fare cap applies, making the fare "only £2 single per person". That is the council's wording as published in October 2026, so check the Stagecoach timetable and your ticket before you travel. The Hayling Island seafront page also covers seafront parking.
Live times and journey planning
For live bus times the council points to the BusTimes map, where you can select a bus stop to see real-time information for every service at that stop, and track a vehicle. Timetables and tickets are on the operators' sites: First Bus and Stagecoach. The council's own page does not publish fares or frequencies for the other routes, so we do not quote them.
Coaches from Havant
The council does not list National Express or Megabus coaches as leaving from Havant. It says these operators run coaches daily to destinations across England, including London and the Midlands, from The Hard Interchange in Portsmouth. You can reach The Hard by train services from Havant and by bus from across the borough.
Route 25 and the Hayling ferry
Route 25 is not on the council's list of borough services, but the council's transport overview says bus service 25 meets some crossings of the Hayling ferry on the Portsmouth side, and that the nearest public transport connection on the Hayling side is at Staunton Avenue, about a mile east of the ferry terminal. The ferry crosses from Ferry Point on Hayling Island to Eastney in Portsmouth in about five minutes, according to the same page. This is a way into Portsmouth that avoids driving round via Havant.
Community transport and school buses
Hampshire County Council provides Connect Havant, a bookable door-to-door service for anyone whose transport needs are not met by public buses, according to the council's transport overview. The same page lists Shopmobility, for people with disabilities or short or long-term mobility problems, and accessible minibuses for hire by clubs and voluntary groups. For school transport, see the Hampshire County Council school transport pages.
Bus shelters and problems at stops
The council owns and maintains most of the bus shelters in the borough, so contact Havant Borough Council first about a shelter issue. Our report a problem guide explains how.
