Where can I get food help in Havant?

Havant Borough Council keeps a Community Food Support Network page that lists the food banks, pantries and meal schemes across the borough. Everything below is taken from that page, as listed in October 2026. Opening times and referral rules change, so phone or check the organisation's own page before you travel. If you run a food support group and want to be listed, the council asks you to email askcommunity@havant.gov.uk.

Which food banks and pantries serve Havant town?

Munch Community Food Pantry is at Park Community School, Middle Park Way, Havant, PO9 4BU. The council says you do not need a referral. It is open from 11am to 1pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesdays, costs £5 to use, and on average you receive £15 worth of food. A pantry is different from a food bank, because you pay a small fee and choose your groceries at a reduced price.

Beacon Food Bank is at 69-73 Meridian Centre, Havant, PO9 1UN, and needs a referral. The council lists it as open for referrals on weekdays from 10am to 1pm, and asks agencies to make referrals before 12.30pm. Its contact details on the council page are foodbank@beaconchurchhavant.org.uk and 07718 424 618. The page also says hampers can be collected from Beacon Lounge between 10.30am and 2pm on weekdays. The church has its own food bank page.

The Peace Centre Havant is at 15 Middle Park Way, Havant, PO9 4AB. The council lists it as taking both referrals and self-referrals, and gives 07861 645343 to request a food parcel or ask for information.

Leigh Park Food Bank is at Leigh Park Community Centre, Dunsbury Way, Havant, PO9 5BG. It is listed as self-referral, open on Mondays and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm, with 07935 516529 to request a parcel. See our Leigh Park guide for the area.

How do I get a referral for a food bank?

Where a referral is needed, the council says agencies that can help include Citizens Advice Havant, on Adviceline 0808 278 7809 or advice@citizensadvicehavant.org, and the council's Housing Office at Public Service Plaza, Civic Centre Road, Havant, PO9 2AX, on 023 9244 6019 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. You can also ask your social worker, GP, your child's school, the job centre or your housing association. Citizens Advice Havant's own site is citizensadvicehavant.org.

Where can I get a hot meal?

The council page lists several schemes in Havant. FoodCycle Havant offers a free hot meal on Thursdays for anyone, with no booking, at 6.30pm at St Joseph's Church, 134 West Street, Havant, PO9 1LP. Munch meals at Park Community School are open to anyone on Thursdays between 4pm and 5.30pm and give a free two-course hot meal and drink. Beacon Community Lunch Club at the Meridian Centre costs £6 for a two-course meal on Mondays from 11.45am to 1.15pm, with no booking, except bank holidays.

The Leigh Park Lunch Club at Leigh Park Community Centre costs £5 for two courses with unlimited drinks on Fridays from 12.30pm, and booking is essential on 02392 476382. If you are sleeping rough or at risk of becoming homeless, the council points to StreetLink.

What other help is there with the cost of living?

The council's cost of living support page covers Council Tax Support, Housing Benefit, Discretionary Housing Payments and more, and lists Citizens Advice Havant, Connect to Support Hampshire and the Money Advice Service for advice on money and debt. Its Housing Advice and Prevention Team can help if you are homeless or at risk, as that page explains. Our council tax guide covers the support the council offers with your bill.

For families, the food support page lists a Best Start Family Hub at Leigh Park Library, and says the NHS Healthy Start card can help pregnant women and parents of under-4s who receive a qualifying benefit to buy healthy food and milk. In school holidays, the page lists Munch Pantry hot meals for families from 12pm to 1pm and the Hampshire Holiday Activities and Food programme.

What are hygiene banks?

The council has worked with local organisations to install hygiene banks, where you can donate new, unused items such as toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant and sanitary products, which are then passed to food banks and community pantries. Havant locations on the council's hygiene banks page include Havant Library at Meridian Shopping Centre, Elm Lane, PO9 1UN, the Havant Borough Council offices at Public Service Plaza and Horizon Leisure Centre on Civic Centre Road.

How can I donate to a food bank in Havant?

The council page highlights Feed Havant, a Havant Rotary Club project that helps food organisations across the borough, at feedhavant.co.uk. It also says Nationwide Building Society has collection points in each branch, and lists Leigh Park donation points including St Francis Church, Park Community School and Leigh Park Community Centre.
