Which surgery covers Leigh Park, Bedhampton and Warblington?
Searches on nhs.uk using one sample postcode in each of PO9 1 to PO9 5 listed all four Havant sites above under "GP surgeries covering your postcode". We only tried one postcode per area, not every street, so do not assume your own address is covered. Each practice's nhs.uk "How to register" page has a postcode checker for its catchment area, so use that.
Surgeries just outside Havant also appear as nearby options, including Emsworth Surgery in Emsworth and Rowlands Castle Surgery in Rowland's Castle. They were listed under nearby surgeries that do not cover the postcodes searched, so they may or may not let you register.
How to register with a GP in Havant
Everyone in England can register with a GP surgery for free (NHS: register with a GP surgery). You can register online through the NHS website: enter a postcode, choose a surgery that offers online registration and fill in the form. The NHS says this takes about 15 minutes for each person, and you should usually be told you are registered within 5 days of the surgery getting your details, though it may take longer.
You can also go to the surgery and fill in a paper form, or download the NHS paper form and take it in. Some surgeries have a form on their own website. The NHS says you do not need proof of address, immigration status, ID or an NHS number to register online with a GP. You will be asked for your name and address, the details of your current GP if you have one, your NHS number if you know it, an emergency contact, and brief details of your medical history, allergies and medication.
If you already have the NHS App and want to change surgery, you can do it there, and you do not need to tell your old surgery because they are told automatically.
Registering outside your area or as a temporary patient
Most GPs only let you register if you live in the area they cover. The NHS says you can ask to register outside your area, for example near where you work, but not every surgery accepts this, and it may affect home visits, out-of-hours care and community services such as physiotherapy. On the nhs.uk results page you can filter for "Accepts out of area registrations". You can also register as a temporary patient for up to 3 months using a form from the surgery.
When your GP is closed
All three practices show as closed on Saturday and Sunday on nhs.uk. When your surgery is closed and it is not an emergency, NHS 111 can direct you to the right service, which may include an urgent treatment centre or a pharmacist. In an emergency, call 999. Our urgent care guide lists the nearest urgent treatment centres and A&E, and our pharmacy guide covers evening and Sunday opening.
What this guide does not cover
We have not given Care Quality Commission ratings for these practices, so check cqc.org.uk for the current rating of each site. Opening times on nhs.uk carry a "last confirmed" date, and the practice's own website may be more recent.
