POLLS OPEN: Havant Voters Decide Borough and County Seats in Big Local Election Day
Havant voters go to the polls today in a double local election day, with seats being contested for both Havant Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.
Havant Borough Council’s current elections page lists two live contests for Thursday 7 May 2026: Havant Borough Council local government elections and Hampshire County Council local government elections. The council also points voters to polling station lookup information and its guidance on how to vote.
## WHY TODAY MATTERS
The borough election is about the council decisions closest to home: local services, planning, neighbourhood priorities, environmental work, town centres and the day-to-day direction of Havant’s communities.
The Hampshire County Council vote is bigger in scale but just as practical. County councillors help shape roads, transport, schools, libraries, social care and other services used across the borough.
For residents in Havant, Bedhampton, Leigh Park, Emsworth, Hayling Island, Waterlooville and the surrounding areas, the two votes together cover a large share of local public life.
## CHECK BEFORE YOU GO
Polling stations close at 10pm. Voters should check their poll card or official polling station lookup details before travelling, especially if they have moved recently or are unsure which station serves their address.
Voters using a polling station also need accepted photo ID. Anyone without the right ID will not be able to receive a ballot paper at the desk.
Results will follow after polls close and counts are completed.
